A coastal-inspired renovation designed to support accessibility, comfort, and long-term living.
Following surgery, my clients sought to renovate her space to better support safety, accessibility, and long-term comfort through the creative lens of British Columbia’s coastal landscape. The project focused on improving functionality and creating a cohesive material palette inspired by ocean tones and natural textures.

The kitchen was reconfigured to strengthen the connection between adjoining living spaces. An enlarged pass-through opening improves sight lines and circulation, allowing light to move more freely throughout the main floor. Cabinetry in Benjamin Moore’s “Carolina Gull” establishes a calming green-grey foundation, paired with Caesarstone “Moorland Fog” countertops. A hand-glazed porcelain tile backsplash introduces texture and subtle craftsmanship within the coastal-inspired scheme.

The main bathroom was redesigned with aging-in-place considerations at the forefront. A step-up tub was replaced with a walk-in shower featuring an integrated bench for improved accessibility. Layers of grey tones create depth within a neutral palette, while terrazzo-inspired porcelain tile adds durability and visual interest. Cabinetry in Benjamin Moore “Asphalt” grounds the space with contrast.
In the powder room, Benjamin Moore “Herb Garden” introduces a bold, earthy accent, balanced with crisp white detailing and continued use of “Moorland Fog” surfaces for continuity.

Throughout the home, updates included fresh paint, upgraded LED lighting, and driftwood-toned luxury vinyl plank flooring from Beaulieu’s Interlagos Turbo series. The flooring selection supports durability, slip resistance, and future mobility needs.
The result is a cohesive coastal-inspired home that balances accessibility, durability, and refined material expression.
